Janvi Sonaiya

I am Janvi Sonaiya, native of Jam-Khambhalia in Saurashtra, currently based out Ahmedabad but a global citizen by choice. News steers me and I am intrigued by all that happens in the world we live. Reporting is my passion and I like to deliver facts, without any alteration. And in brief. Having started off with The Times Group (Ahmedabad Mirror), later on, I opted for a brief stint with regional reporting at Divya Bhaskar and Desh Gujarat. Thereon, followed a few years at DNA. Contemporary media is surfing the digital tide. That click got me as a Features Editor for the Ahmedabad-based and Gujarat-centric digital news start-up, Vibes Of India. I took up crime, politics, revenue and scams as beats to dabble into and what followed has been an eventful two years and counting with VOI. Investigative copies with my by-line have been quoted by The Wire, CNN, NBC News and other publications. In particular, the in-depth series of ground report from Dingucha village, met with great response online and was also used by law enforcing agencies to trail the broad-base illegal immigration racket that exists from Gujarat to Canada.

When You’re The Other Woman

Women are taken for granted, invisible unless they have a function useful to men and the patriarchy. But we are not taking this lying down.
