Then suddenly her mother started calling. She woke up in a shock and her heart was shattered into pieces as she realized it was just a dream.
“I am no bird; and no net ensnares me: I am a free human being with an independent will.” – Charlotte Bronte
A girl at some point in her life always has an uncontrollable urge to just run away and leave everything behind. She no longer wants to be poisoned by the restrictions and rules set upon her by her family and society.
She stepped into the train with a smiling face,
After a long time, she was able to fulfil her wish,
Her wish of travelling “alone”.
She happily sat by the window side,
A gust of wind flew against her face as she was gazing outside,
What a wonderful weather it was,
Where she was enjoying her own company so much.
After a long time, she was experiencing immense freedom,
Away from all sorts of stress and boredom.
As the train left the platform, she saw
Small children waving merrily.
She too waved back at them smilingly,
Sipping frooti, she heaved a sigh of relief,
That coolness made her forget her old grief.
Then the vendor came to that compartment,
She bought some delicious channa and peanuts for herself,
How desperately she wished for that journey to never end.
Then suddenly her mother started calling “Leena! Leena! Get up. It’s already too late.”
She woke up in a shock and her heart was shattered into pieces,
As she realized it was just a dream.

I wanted to scream with excitement that my daughter chose to write about her ambition and aspirations over everything else first. To me, this was one of those parenting 'win' moments.
My daughter turned eight years old in January, and among the various gifts she received from friends and family was an absolutely beautiful personal journal for self-growth. A few days ago, she was exploring the pages when she found a section for writing a letter to her future self. She found this intriguing and began jotting down her thoughts animatedly.
My curiosity piqued and she could sense it immediately. She assured me that she would show me the letter soon, and lo behold, she kept her word.
I glanced at her words, expecting to see a mention of her parents in the first sentence. But, to my utter delight, the first thing she had written about was her AMBITION. Yes, the caps here are intentional because I want to scream with excitement that my daughter chose to write about her ambition and aspirations over everything else first. To me, this was one of those parenting ‘win’ moments.
