First Step

A mother pens a poem as she longs to see the ‘firsts’ in her child’s life again.

 

I wish I could make everything happen again,

I wish I could see you take your first steps again.

Your lovely smile that appeared for the first time,

Your first step to hold my finger,

All this is too sweet to arouse a pain,

That your lovely childhood will never come again.

I seek solace in this pain-

That comes from the thought of having your replica

When you too will become a mom!
