“I just don’t want to talk to you, mom. Please leave me alone.”
It was my sister who suddenly got irritated with mom. I knew she was on her PMS and hence, I ignored her. But my mom felt sad. She is a soft-spoken lady and gets upset easily. And as always, it was me who tried to make her feel better by giving her a hug!
But why upset your dear ones every time you are PMS-ing? Why not learn to control your extreme mood swings during those times of the month? And yes, it is possible! Here are the things you can easily do.
It might sound weird to you at first but it really works! Self-massage can be an amazing way to get rid of those emotional woes during PMS! A soft massage with some essential oils can help in relaxing the muscles and increasing blood flow.
However, you need to choose the right kind of essential oils. For example, lavender can work wonders! Just add a few drops of lavender oil in your massage lotion and rub it around your lower abdomen. Now start massaging in a clockwise and anti-clockwise motion. Do this massage twice every day during your PMS.
It is vital to eat healthy and light in order to feel lighter during those days. Including flaxseeds in your diet can be an amazing way to get relief from those physical as well as emotional cramps! It helps in balancing the hormones and therefore, relieves the mood swings. You can also include brown rice, soya yogurt, chickpeas, lentils, nuts, and these will help you with any sort of hormonal imbalances. Have a glass of milk at night as it is rich in calcium, also helping to even out emotions.
Regular yoga sessions will not only help you to remain slim and trim but will also to control your mood swings during those days of the month! If possible, get in touch with a yoga instructor and devote at least an hour in doing some yoga. Just try it and you will see the changes for yourself.
If you find smoking to be really relaxing during PMS, you are sadly mistaken! Smoking can actually aggravate your mood swings. And hence, this is probably the best time to keep a check on your smoking habits. Avoid smoking, or for your betterment, quit smoking and see how fresh and enliven you feel even during those irritating PMS days!
If you have been thinking that relaxing on the couch whole day would help you to keep a check on your mood swings, you need to give it a second thought! In fact, aerobic exercises and a stroll around the park with your pet can actually help you in easing the anxiety and sadness during PMS. Just get yourself out of that cozy couch and get running! This will surely help!

People say that women are the greatest enemies of women. I vehemently disagree. It is the patriarchal mindset that makes women believe in the wrong ideology.
The entire world celebrates International Women’s Day on March 8, 2024. It should be a joyful day, but unfortunately, not all women are entitled to this privilege, as violence against women is at its peak. The experience of oppression pushes many women to choose freedom. As far as patriotism is concerned, feminism is not a cup of tea in this society.
What happens when a woman decides to stand up for herself? Does this world easily accept the decisions of women in this society? What inspires them to be free of the clutches of the oppression that women have faced for ages? Most of the time, women do not get the chance to decide for themselves. Their lives are always at the mercy of someone, which can be their parents, siblings, husband, or children.
In some cases, women do not feel the need to make any decisions. They are taught to obey the patriarchal system, which makes them believe that they are right. In my family, I was never taught to make decisions on my own. It was always my parents who bought dresses and all that I needed.
It is shameful that in today's world too, women are abused and even killed for giving birth to a girl, and the infant's life is also of no value.
Trigger Warning: This deals with domestic violence, suicide, and violence against women, and may be triggering to survivors.
I am so glad that the esteemed courts are now giving the much-required verdicts regarding certain ideologies that were not at all entertained earlier. I mean we all have studied this much biology at our school level and it is our duty (our generation) to educate our elders about it.
Why someone have to lose a life to bring such awareness to the society. Delhi High Court gave this judgement concerning a case that filed by the deceased daughter’s parents against her in-laws. She committed suicide as she was harassed and tortured for dowry and giving birth to two daughters.
