Check out 16 Return-To-Work Programs In India For Ambitious Women Like You!
If you’ve been following our latest contest, Cooking is Child’s Play, you would have noted some of the fun recipes that came in to help get children interested in food and cooking. A big thank you to all the bloggers/readers who participated!
And here – are the results! We’ve identified three winners, based on how child-friendly the recipe was, how innovative it was and the presentation itself. So, here goes.
The first prize, celebrity chef Nigella Lawson’s drool-worthy hardcover Kitchen: Recipes from the heart of the home, goes to – Neeraja, for her fancy fruit salad. Thank you, Neeraja – for a super-healthy, super-fun recipe!
The two second prizes, a copy of Ratna Rajaiah’s ‘unabashed and wonderful ode’ to simple Indian food, How the Banana goes to heaven, goes to:
– Sangitha for her simple, kid-friendly Pasta sauce, presented beautifully, and
– Esther, for her unusual Pepper Egg Rings recipe
All three winners will also receive a personalised kids’ apron from Oysterkids, a premium children’s products range. Congratulations to all the winners – please do send your complete address, with pincode and phone number, to [email protected], so that we can arrange to send your prizes.
Thank you all once again – and for those who couldn’t send in entries on time, do keep your eyes peeled and watch out for other Women’s Web contests!

UP Boards Topper Prachi Nigam was trolled on social media for her facial hair; our obsession with appearance is harsh on young minds.
Prachi Nigam’s photo has been doing the rounds on social media for the right reasons. Well, scratch that- I wish the above statement were true. This 15-year-old girl should ideally be revelling in her spectacular achievement of scoring a whopping 98.05% and topping her tenth-grade boards. But oddly enough, along with her marks, it’s something else that garners more attention – her facial hair.
While the trolls are driving themselves giddy by mocking this girl who hasn’t even completed her school yet, the ones who are taking her side are going one step ahead – they are sharing her photoshopped pictures, sans the facial hair, looking nothing less than a celebrity with captions saying – “Prachi Nigam, ten years later”.
Doctors have already diagnosed her with PCOD in their comments, based on photographic evidence. While we have names for people shamed for their weight – body shaming, for their skin colour- racism, for their age- age shaming, for being a female- sexism, this category of shaming where one faces criticism for their appearance has no name. With that, it also has zero shame attached to it.
