Women’s Web is hiring for an Editor on our English website/platform.

Role objective: To power Women’s Web’s mission to enable women to tell their own stories, to the widest possible audience, while bringing out the diversity of women’s voices.

Description: This role would involve growing the Women’s Web site (English) to the widest possible audience, on high-growth mode. The work includes:

  • Deep audience understanding, including developing the knowledge of how and what drives audience’s search habits
  • Growth-hacking (and trouble-shooting), to power traffic growth aggressively, with a broader understanding of digital consumption trends & competitor strategies
  • Ideating on stories that will strike a chord with readers and implementing with speed
  • Working with professional writers, curators and contributors, towards the above implementation
  • Editing and publishing submitted posts contributed, identifying experts and others with interesting points of view to  share their stories on Women’s Web (and publishing the same) and curating new material based on social media and other sources as well as supporting the team on community outreach.

Candidate Profile: The candidate should identify as a feminist and have a strong interest in women’s rights, and women’s lives, in the Indian context. We prefer candidates with past experience of 4-6 years in the digital publishing industry, on comparable platforms (need not be women-specific).

You must have a proven track record of growing audience & delivering high quality content. Other skills needed included excellent English language skills, a strong nose for news, and the ability to create high-impact stories from raw material.

Location: This job is currently remote; candidates from any city in India are welcome to apply. We may give a few additional points to people based in Bengaluru/willing to relocate here at a suitable time.
