I have an MBA in finance and post a brief stint at the Delhi Stock Exchange, shifted to MP after marriage. My husband’s job brought us to Mumbai. I had two young kids at home and being in a nuclear family did not have faith to entrust their care to a nanny and venture out for a job. Being an MBA in finance I wanted to pursue something in the financial field but my husband suggested HR as an alternate career option. Taking up HR would mean that I could start my own consulting firm from home and would not need to neglect my kids. So, I started Rian Placements about 11 years back.
Rian was initially a work from home venture which has today grown into a women-centric consultancy operating from 2-3 locations in India. Today Rian is a chain of women working towards a common goal. We have both full time employees and also work-at-home moms who work for us on a flexi-time basis. Our main focus is executive search and career counselling.
We are a boutique firm and have been extremely fortunate in the fact that we have always had the backing of very committed employees. The dedication of the team towards every mandate that we handle, has been instrumental in us being where we are at today. At Rian we believe in transparent communication, whether it be inter or intra-office. Our clients can always count on us to give them candid feedback w.r.t the mandate shared or market and that has helped us cement our position in the industry.

Yuvaraj Shele, a small-time worker from Kolhapur, Maharashtra, did battle many odds and arranged for his mother Ratna’s wedding a few weeks ago. The main point that he put forth was that he felt his mother was lonely and saw the need for her to live happily.
A myth that goes without saying is that only a woman can understand another woman better. What happens when a man does understand what a woman goes through? Especially when the woman is his mother, that too when she is a widow?
This scene does remind of a few movies/web series where the daughter/son do realize their mother’s emotions and towards the end, they approve of their new relationship.
