Gaslighting is one of the most prominent behaviour patterns found in cases of intimate emotional abuse. The word owes its origin to the 1944 Hollywood film titled Gaslight, in which the husband emotionally exploits his wife to the extent that she begins to question her own sanity. A similar kind of abuse was partially portrayed in the Bollywood flick Damini also.

#गैसलाइटिंग अंतरंग भावनात्मक शोषण का एक प्रमुख प्रकार है . ये शब्द लिया गया है १९४४ की हॉलीवुड फिल्म से जिसमें एक पति अपनी पत्नी का इस हद तक भावनात्मक शोषण करता है कि उसका आत्मविश्वास धीरे-धीरे इतना कम हो जाता है कि वह खुद कर विश्वास करना बंद कर देती है . कुछ ऐसा ही दिखाया गया था बॉलीवुड फिल्म दामिनी में.

The abusers in cases of gaslighting are often people closely related to you – romantic partners, spouses, siblings, parents and sometimes even bosses and colleagues. गैसलाइटिंग करने वाले ज़्यादातर हमारे क़रीबी लोग होते हैं – रोमांटिक पार्टनर, पति/पत्नी, भाई/बहन, माता/पिता और कभी-कभी बॉस या सहकर्मी.
