In the chaos and drudgery of the monotonous life. I yearn to do something that is only mine.
The moment that only belongs to me. Not stressing over when, what and how things ought to be. The moment that has heart in the right place. Away from the shadows of the busy maddening pace.
That time, I must spend grooming myself, without worrying about the chores and ringing doorbell. For my favorite meal, that I can have, all by myself. The book that I still haven’t read, the thoughts I still haven’t penned. That dress I still haven’t tried; my hair color, that has lost its shine.
That moment, I must spend, learning something new. Or, may I use it to get some extra winks to freshen up as dew. I may not take this moment to reply to messages, not even to clean the passage. The moment I may steal, to spend it with the love of my life or grab my hot cup and stand by the window, to enjoy the lovely sight.
I may take this time to reflect and introspect, or just dance with crazy abandon with full zest. I will neither take a day, nor an hour, I will just take a small moment to spare.
Let me take a moment, Oh Life! Let me do something that is only mine. For happiness starts with me, and happy I will always be.

UP Boards Topper Prachi Nigam was trolled on social media for her facial hair; our obsession with appearance is harsh on young minds.
Prachi Nigam’s photo has been doing the rounds on social media for the right reasons. Well, scratch that- I wish the above statement were true. This 15-year-old girl should ideally be revelling in her spectacular achievement of scoring a whopping 98.05% and topping her tenth-grade boards. But oddly enough, along with her marks, it’s something else that garners more attention – her facial hair.
While the trolls are driving themselves giddy by mocking this girl who hasn’t even completed her school yet, the ones who are taking her side are going one step ahead – they are sharing her photoshopped pictures, sans the facial hair, looking nothing less than a celebrity with captions saying – “Prachi Nigam, ten years later”.
Doctors have already diagnosed her with PCOD in their comments, based on photographic evidence. While we have names for people shamed for their weight – body shaming, for their skin colour- racism, for their age- age shaming, for being a female- sexism, this category of shaming where one faces criticism for their appearance has no name. With that, it also has zero shame attached to it.
