Fantastic Forties- Poem

Posted: July 22, 2020

Ageing into your forties does not have to be about letting go of a younger self. It can be the starting point of a shift in perspective and your next step to growth.

Forty  is a strange age,
A strange  age indeed,
More curious than you can  think,
As with a jolt you realize,
That you have passed half of your age,
Just  in a blink.

Forty is a strange  age,
A strange age indeed,
More strange  then you can imagine,
As now the fears which,
Made you  restless  earlier,
Are no where to be seen.

Forty is a strange age,
A strange age indeed,
More queer than you might understand,
As now you ignore the things,
Which earlier you could,
Never tolerate or  withstand.

Forty is a strange age,
A strange age indeed,
More amazing your life becomes,
Having aced the art of handling every problem small and great,
What others will say,
Don’t matter to you anymore,
Nor do you care.

Forty is a strange age,
A strange age indeed,
More happening than the other stages of your  life,
The age where you halt your run to  act according to  others,
And stop proving,
That you are a good mother, daughter in law or  wife.

Forty is a strange age,
A strange age indeed,
More placid,calm and serene,
Where you start loving yourself all over again,
Your affair with yourself,
Once again you  revive and begin.

Forty is a strange age,
A strange age indeed,
The age when you start,
Giving time to your passions and dreams
Again you start with vigour new,
To discover new avenues.

Forty is a strange age,
A strange age indeed,
Because you have realized,
That life is uncertain,
And even for yourself,
You have to live.
