As a human being I condemn rape.
Not of a little girl
Not of a woman
Not of a Muslim
Not of a Hindu
I condemn rape of another human being.
If you dont
If you find “reasons”
If you choose to side with the culprits
You are also a rapist.
If you bring religion
If you bring politics
If you bring nations to “justify” the act
Then, you dont belong to any of the above
The pain
The anguish
The agony
If you dont feel it
If you choose to ignore it
If you have the heart to brush it aside
Then be prepared
For maybe, probably
Someday
No one would be there to feel your pain
Your misery
Your agony
For humanity would be long dead
And you would have played a part in killing it.

It is amazing when a person turns personal adversity into a calling, and extends empathy to make a significant impact in the lives of other people. This has been the life’s journey of Dr Nalini Parthasarathi.

April 17 is World Hemophilia Day. Dr Nalini Parthasarathi, 79, based in Puducherry has dedicated 30 years of her life caring for people suffering from hemophilia. She was honoured with the Padma Shri in 2023.

Hemophilia is a condition where one or more clotting factor is absent leading to bleeding. Severe cases can be life-threatening.
