Of Friend Requests And Unwanted Chats

Women often have to encounter unpleasant conversations with known and unknown men on social networking sites. Can we show some respect please?

In this techno-social era, most of us are eager to socialize and be active though various social sites. One of the most loved social networking sites is Facebook. Facebook has both male and female users and it has filled many a social voids. Well, many have friends across the world thanks to Facebook.

What I am going to share is something that all the women users out there would have experienced. Of late women users check on the person’s profile and then accept the friend request so as to avoid any kind of unwanted attention. Recently, I had to encounter something awkward on Facebook.  It so happened that a  couple of male  friends whom I knew from half a decade started pinging me on messenger. Of course, I knew them so I replied in the beginning. The chat  began on a very normal note but, slowly it started to take an unwanted filthy route. I became aware of where this was going and so I politely informed them to stop it.

Towards the end of the chat with these known predators, I realized that such messages were popping up because of my recent profile picture, in which I was supposedly in a modern outfit. I felt so very bad and was upset for a couple of hours. These so called friends were trying to misbehave with me. They have to face me at one or the other social event. Will they be happy to seeing my frowning unhappy face. And would I be still calling these predators my friends?

We talk about respecting each other on Facebook walls and in private messenger conversations you talk like sh*t! Respecting women on Facebook walls and disrespecting them on messenger? Talk about pretensions.
