Associate Editor, Women’s Web

Location: Bangalore

Nature of employment: full-time

Role objective: To power Women’s Web’s mission to amplify the diversity of women’s voices by bringing in more content and engaging stories from voices in the community, and from the ecosystem around us.

Description: This role would involve ideating on stories that will strike a chord with readers, working with curators and contributors, to publish on topical issues, editing and publishing submitted posts contributed, identifying experts and others with interesting points of view to share their stories on Women’s Web (and publishing the same) and curating new material based on social media and other sources as well as supporting the team on community outreach.

Candidate Profile: We invite applications from fresh graduates and post-graduates (in the Humanities or Media/Communication streams) or those with 1 year of work experience in the digital publishing industry. Women looking to switch careers or restart careers after a break are also welcome if you fulfil the requirements below. You must be passionate about women’s rights in India, have excellent English language skills, be an avid reader and social media consumer, have a strong nose for news, and a high degree of comfort with reaching out for information to build well-researched stories.

Staff Writer, Women’s Web

Location: any location within India, with first-preference for Bangalore

Nature of employment: part-time

Role objective: To significantly add to the highly relevant, engaging and interesting content on Women’s Web

Description: This role would involve creating stories everyday on a diverse range of topics, and in varied formats, including feature stories, interviews, SEO writing, listicles, reviews etc.

Candidate Profile: We invite applications from fresh graduates and post-graduates (in the Humanities or Media/Communication streams) or from other streams. You must be passionate about women’s rights in India, be a creative/experimental person, have excellent English language skills, be an avid reader and social media consumer, and have a strong nose for news. Besides this, you must also be comfortable with working on short deadlines.

Translator from English to Tamil

Location: any location worldwide

Nature of employment: Short-term/Project based

Description: This is a 2-week project that would involve translating approximately 10 articles from English to Tamil.

Candidate Profile: We invite applications from Tamil writers who are equally comfortable in both languages. Prior experience with translation is a bonus but not essential.
