So-called society and important relatives consider that their respect is more important than a person's life. Why does society influence our parents so much that they become blind and deaf at times?
Trigger Warning: This deals with death and negating the life of a woman, and may be triggering to survivors.
A recent incident in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, yet proved again that there is no humanity left in people. Quoting the exact news for better understanding: “The bride died of a heart attack during the wedding rituals. However, the bride’s family suggested the groom marry the bride’s younger sister. During the wedding, the bride’s body was kept in the hospital’s cold storage. The body was cremated after the marriage.”
Is this some kind of compensation plan that we are unaware of? If one dies (read as the bride), you get married to the other one (her younger sister in most cases). Instead of preparing for the rituals of the deceased daughter, the parents and family kept her in a cold storage at the hospital and performed the wedding rituals of the younger daughter.
Is this justified? Is this a case of cold hearted parents or parents helpless to preserving tradition?
Have you heard about the return entry in Accountancy? I am sure many of you do!
It means any item which cannot be processed is being returned for correction or re-initiation. One girl couldn’t get married, so why not re-initiate the marriage with another one – the return entry system was used aptly by this family.
As I always mention, only 5-10% people in India are literate in the true sense; and by true sense I mean literate in their thoughts and mindset. Sometimes if not the parents, then the so-called society and most important relatives consider that their respect is more important than a person’s life. Why does society influence our parents so much that they become blind and deaf at times?
When I come across such happenings I really feel frustrated, anguished and highly disappointed. Not only big crimes like murder, rape, assault should be considered as crime, incidents like this should also be considered the same as it’s a murder to humanity.
RIP HUMANITY

UP Boards Topper Prachi Nigam was trolled on social media for her facial hair; our obsession with appearance is harsh on young minds.
Prachi Nigam’s photo has been doing the rounds on social media for the right reasons. Well, scratch that- I wish the above statement were true. This 15-year-old girl should ideally be revelling in her spectacular achievement of scoring a whopping 98.05% and topping her tenth-grade boards. But oddly enough, along with her marks, it’s something else that garners more attention – her facial hair.
While the trolls are driving themselves giddy by mocking this girl who hasn’t even completed her school yet, the ones who are taking her side are going one step ahead – they are sharing her photoshopped pictures, sans the facial hair, looking nothing less than a celebrity with captions saying – “Prachi Nigam, ten years later”.
Doctors have already diagnosed her with PCOD in their comments, based on photographic evidence. While we have names for people shamed for their weight – body shaming, for their skin colour- racism, for their age- age shaming, for being a female- sexism, this category of shaming where one faces criticism for their appearance has no name. With that, it also has zero shame attached to it.
