Poem: Change, accept, adapt and dance to their tune? To all misbehaviour and disrespect be immune? But why should she?
She had given more than they could take.
Still, she had to see enough heart-break.
Was this drama really meant for her sake?
She was genuine and could never be fake.
Change, accept and adapt and dance to their tune?
To all misbehaviour and disrespect be immune?
Continue picking and joining pieces strewn?
Allow to be blown and sifted like a sand-dune?
She witnessed the ferocious and vociferous fight—
Found herself discussing and debating day and night.
The three-in-one judge, advocate and convict’s might—
Her collective efforts tried to converge and throw light.
Forever distrust and dilemma and experiencing enough pain;
After another year, it was that day of the year again!
But, today she felt fresh like a rainbow after the rain!
A brand new love and a loving Valentine was her gain!
Her Valentine said, “My love! My dear! You’ll be fine!”
“Our eternal true love will grow and mature like old wine.”
She had committed to a life-long affair and chosen to shine!
She had grabbed self-love and peace and was her own Valentine!
She had her cake and ate it too- picking favourite colour and flavour!
Doing what she liked and liking what she did— her labour to savour!
Pleasing self was her 24X7 project and sincere constant endeavour!
Discovering self-love and her sanity, she did herself a huge favour.

UP Boards Topper Prachi Nigam was trolled on social media for her facial hair; our obsession with appearance is harsh on young minds.
Prachi Nigam’s photo has been doing the rounds on social media for the right reasons. Well, scratch that- I wish the above statement were true. This 15-year-old girl should ideally be revelling in her spectacular achievement of scoring a whopping 98.05% and topping her tenth-grade boards. But oddly enough, along with her marks, it’s something else that garners more attention – her facial hair.
While the trolls are driving themselves giddy by mocking this girl who hasn’t even completed her school yet, the ones who are taking her side are going one step ahead – they are sharing her photoshopped pictures, sans the facial hair, looking nothing less than a celebrity with captions saying – “Prachi Nigam, ten years later”.
Doctors have already diagnosed her with PCOD in their comments, based on photographic evidence. While we have names for people shamed for their weight – body shaming, for their skin colour- racism, for their age- age shaming, for being a female- sexism, this category of shaming where one faces criticism for their appearance has no name. With that, it also has zero shame attached to it.
