I was told that on my face that "I was not fit to work at this company," by my female colleague despite having an engineering degree. I have worked at 4 MNCs in IT and I have come across aggressive men and women who will put down and abuse other vulnerable women to move ahead.

I was told that on my face that “I was not fit to work at this company,” by my female colleague despite having an engineering degree. After 20 years of my Post Graduation, I am still a developer in one of the MNC’s in Bangalore, earning the same salary that I was earning 10 years ago.
I could never get ahead in my career because of the violence and taunts that I faced at my workplace by my managers.
I think it’s a crime for an Indian woman to dream and be ambitious. Furthermore, I was threatened, blackmailed and bullied by my female bosses.
Most men have a sense of entitlement at the workplace, while women are just tolerated at the workplace. Women are made to feel guilty for earning money and for speaking up, god forbid you aspire to become something beyond ordinary.
How dare an ordinary brown skinned Indian woman claim to have an advanced degree in engineering from the USA? It is so unfair to all the entitled and privileged Indian men.
That the woman has to be tamed, stripped of her wings to fly, and she should be made incapacitated to think and her freedom must be curtailed by posing financial restrictions.
This is the attitude of most Indian men towards a woman. Indian men feel insecure and threatened, and their ego is hurt, so they turn to abuse, patronizing behaviour, violence, ridicule, humiliation, shaming and taunts and aggressive behaviour.
Indian woman should only know how to prove to their husbands how to fix a gas stove. It is 2022, and where is India heading in the space of advancement of women in the workplace?
It is the crab mentality of most Indian men that keeps women from advancing in the workplace. If I cannot have it, you cannot either.
It is the weak men who feel the need to ridicule and humiliate a strong woman. It’s the weak men and women who put down strong women at the workplace because they don’t know what to do with her and how to deal with her.

UP Boards Topper Prachi Nigam was trolled on social media for her facial hair; our obsession with appearance is harsh on young minds.
Prachi Nigam’s photo has been doing the rounds on social media for the right reasons. Well, scratch that- I wish the above statement were true. This 15-year-old girl should ideally be revelling in her spectacular achievement of scoring a whopping 98.05% and topping her tenth-grade boards. But oddly enough, along with her marks, it’s something else that garners more attention – her facial hair.
While the trolls are driving themselves giddy by mocking this girl who hasn’t even completed her school yet, the ones who are taking her side are going one step ahead – they are sharing her photoshopped pictures, sans the facial hair, looking nothing less than a celebrity with captions saying – “Prachi Nigam, ten years later”.
Doctors have already diagnosed her with PCOD in their comments, based on photographic evidence. While we have names for people shamed for their weight – body shaming, for their skin colour- racism, for their age- age shaming, for being a female- sexism, this category of shaming where one faces criticism for their appearance has no name. With that, it also has zero shame attached to it.
