Check out 16 Return-To-Work Programs In India For Ambitious Women Like You!
The author dwells upon why women end up leaving their careers post marriage and child-birth. Lack of family support, particularly from the husband leads to women fleeing the work-force?
“What will you do by taking up a job?”, asked a husband to his wife. “Someone please ask him what he does in his office?”, a wife murmured.
“Handle home!!, handle kids!!”, as if ladies brought them in their dowry.
Even your parents would force you to live in such marriages which are suffocating. What to do then, a big Black Hole rests in your heart and you certainly are slowly becoming NUMB. Right?
Why is it so, that men want their wives to sacrifice their career for the sake of house, kids, for him, for his parents and blah blah blah. Why? This unanswerable question would jolt you every time you would think of this and again you would fall into depression. You wonder if it is your mistake that you married a man whom you thought to be supportive.
Hold On! Take a Deep Breath. We understand, you do not owe any explanation to anyone, but just snap that man out of your head if not life at least, as you only live once. You must have done numerous mistakes in your exams which might have given you negative marking and suddenly you realized, “Fish, I knew the answer, I am so stupid!!” It is the same, trust me.
All women out there are victims of patriarchy in some way or the other. Innumerable sacrifices make a good mother. Really? “Shut up” is the only word for such people who think like that. Stand up for yourself and If you cannot, just do not stop trying and do not kill yourself everyday for not getting your career back.
In PGIMER, Community Medicine department did a research on Post Natal Depression which proved that career deprived mothers tend to suffer from depression later. It was also found that 228 ladies out of 1028 in their post natal depression period were forcibly asked to leave their jobs to handle their kids as their husbands did not want to leave their jobs for baby-sitting. Department categorized these ladies into CDMD (Career Deprived Motherhood Depression). In this category they found that ladies became victim of depression due to their job loss and most importantly they are made to feel like a non paid maid of the house who is not even allowed to complain. Most of these ladies were highly placed in their careers before marriage says, the report of Community Medicine department.

UP Boards Topper Prachi Nigam was trolled on social media for her facial hair; our obsession with appearance is harsh on young minds.
Prachi Nigam’s photo has been doing the rounds on social media for the right reasons. Well, scratch that- I wish the above statement were true. This 15-year-old girl should ideally be revelling in her spectacular achievement of scoring a whopping 98.05% and topping her tenth-grade boards. But oddly enough, along with her marks, it’s something else that garners more attention – her facial hair.
While the trolls are driving themselves giddy by mocking this girl who hasn’t even completed her school yet, the ones who are taking her side are going one step ahead – they are sharing her photoshopped pictures, sans the facial hair, looking nothing less than a celebrity with captions saying – “Prachi Nigam, ten years later”.
Doctors have already diagnosed her with PCOD in their comments, based on photographic evidence. While we have names for people shamed for their weight – body shaming, for their skin colour- racism, for their age- age shaming, for being a female- sexism, this category of shaming where one faces criticism for their appearance has no name. With that, it also has zero shame attached to it.
