A letter to a husband who wanted a life partner made of wife material, but found a partner who is made human material!
Dear Husband,
I am not sorry I am not your desirable woman. Yes, I thought and still think you were the best in the lot, so I chose you.
Our two beautiful daughters who have fire in their eyes when anyone raises their voice against me, yes God gave these two girls to us and no I am not going to have a third child hoping for a son.
I wish, you had told me earlier that it was mandatory to have a son as an ‘heir’ to your family! But I, too, did not tell you that I have an abusive brother and mother who will not treat you right either.
I hid the fact that my family were naïve and did not respect their girl child, so it is stupid of you to expect they would treat you as a king.
Our cultural mix is not a good combination. I agree. There are times I hear a mouthful from your sisters, and I take it with a smile at a few times and not every single time.
My career is important, and I cannot leave work to only take care of kids.
I require house help; I do not mind paying the help fairly so that I can effectively manage both family and career.
My brother calls me names, but I refuse to accept that my background is questionable.
My mom says horrible things to me, but I refuse to accept that I am not a part of my maiden family.
My dad did not pay for the wedding nor hosted any parties. That does not make him a less father. He educated me and I am proud of that.
I am unable to settle in your parents’ house that envisions me and my little girls just as unpaid cooks and housekeeping beings.
Here I stand in front of you, you can proceed to find your desirable woman and I will ensure you that I will have no problems with that. Good Luck!
Thank you
