From scientist to fashion business owner – Babita Badlani shares her intriguing story. Reading this story may turn you entrepreneur too!
I was interested in fashion from when I was in school, but like every other Indian student I was pressured away from a creative career. This led me to pursue Biotechnology, which led to an MSc & a position as a Junior Scientist. After having my son Lavyansh, I was not able to get back to work. With time in hand, I decided to find options to work from home. I discovered a program from Wooplr that helped me set up MyFashionTadka, a fashion store powered by Wooplr, where I curate and showcase my style.
I dared to undertake this drastic change in my profession i.e., from being a scientist to an entrepreneur, to channelise my passion. Indian fashion has never ceased to inspire me. Two Indian celebrities whose fashion sense never fails to impress me are Deepika Padukone and Sushmita Sen.
Becoming a fashion business owner seemed a natural progression. My life has sure taken a positive turn as a fashion entrepreneur. It gives me immense happiness to witness both my babies – my son and my online fashion store grow slowly but steadily.
It all started when I noticed a need in quality western attire at affordable prices among friends & family. There are innumerable online fashion stores out there. What makes MyFashionTadka different from the rest is that I mainly invest in Western attire without compromising on the quality, while simultaneously offering the garments at a reasonable price. From that age old little black dress to the trendy lapis skirt, I decided to keep everything that can give you a vibrant global look.
The key to gaining faith among your customers is to deliver at their doorstep exactly what they view on the site. The Wooplr presence on your site gives the customer the much needed seal of authenticity. They manage the brands tie ups, delivery & logistics. The customer gets a proper shipping detail at par with the leading e-commerce sites in India. Setting up your store with Wooplr is very easy too, and doesn’t require any special tech expertise.
The one thing I have discovered about myself is that I have enormous patience. Running a business, capturing a market, and dealing with various types of customers requires you to be tremendously patient.
My baby is my biggest strength as well as the one from whom I draw utmost inspiration. He is my biggest cheerleader. Of course, there are times when I find it difficult to handle both Lavyansh as well as my start-up but I have managed them efficiently.
I firmly believe that it is essential to grow as an individual. Be independent; have your own identity. Being a mother doesn’t makes you lose your personal identity. Look out for that and in doing so, one day you will become another Babita Badlani or even better than me!
Wooplr today helps 10,000+ influencers to run a fashion store, share with ease, and earn 20-30K per month. They do the heavy lifting by getting new brands added, delivery, and payments. You only need to focus on marketing & growing the store.
Today, I am a successful entrepreneur and proud of my own earnings. I am also a mentor for Wooplr’s Women’s Business Program. Here is the pre approved link for you to curate and sell your own range from Wooplr. Interested? Sign up here.
