In The Women’s Web ‘Travel The World With Kids’ series, we talk to mums from all over the globe who are interested in exploring their backyard attractions with their tiny tots! We hope you find them useful, if someday you choose to visit their part of the world.

Presented in Q&A format, this one is with Lisa Wielgosz from Dubai, who blogs about her adventures at Baby Loves To Travel.

Dubai – the land of desert safaris, gleaming towers reaching for the skies and – the ‘place where the world comes to shop’ – as they proudly announce! We’ve seen Tom Cruise’s death-defying stunts atop the Burj Khalifa, now let’s hear Lisa talk about child-friendly activities in Dubai.

Hey Lisa! Do introduce yourself to our readers.

I was born and raised in Australia but since meeting my Canadian husband I’ve lived in and visited various spots around the globe. Our current port of call is Dubai (United Arab Emirates) where we have lived for almost two years. I became a first time mama in 2009, and in early 2011 we welcomed baby number two! Given the international flavour of our household, we do a lot of travel, sometimes for necessity but most often for pleasure.

I’ve been living in Wellington since 1997. Arriving in my early twenties, from the UK, I enjoyed making the most of long weekends and holidays to explore New Zealand’s stunning natural scenery and enjoy some thrilling experiences – such as hiking on an active volcano, taking a helicopter ride and landing on a glacier.

Hi Toni! Tell us a little about yourself

I’m a work-at-home mom based in Manila, Philippines. Freelance writing and business consulting keeps me busy, but it’s my two-year-old son who keeps me on my toes the most. When not meeting deadlines or finishing projects, I enjoy blogging, watching Toy Story over and over with my toddler, and taking walks in the park with my family.

In the Women’s Web ‘Travel The World With Kids’ series, we talk to mums from all over the globe who are interested in exploring their backyard attractions with their tiny tots! We hope you find them useful, if someday you choose to visit their part of the world. Presented in Q&A format, this one is with popular blogger, Uma from Chennai, who blogs about her life at StickyBunBook.

The final Indian metro city to be covered in this series also happens to be the current home of Women’s Web itself! Known to be a more subdued city than the other metros in India, what does Singara Chennai have in store for kids?

Vanakkam Uma! Do tell us about yourself.

I am a working mom in Chennai trying to do a number of things all at once! I think of myself as an artistically minded, chilled-out mom who blogs about her little one, Pattu, among other things.

What are some of your suggestions for parents visiting with young kids to do in Chennai?

Beach. Beach. Beach. That’s what Chennai has in plenty and some really nice stretches too. Chennai has very few parks that are well maintained. The Semmozhi Poonga on Anna Salai, Nageswara Rao Park, Adyar Eco Park (closed on Sundays) are good picnic places for kids under 3 yrs. These are better visited during the evening especially in summer. Tip: Carry mosquito repellants.

I began blogging in 2006 and have been hooked since. A journalist and a mother of two, I’m always ready for a quick chat over a cup of chai or dashing off a quick blog post on something that matters to me. I love gardening and reading and believe I can never have enough of either.

Vibrant and whimsical, Kuala Lumpur remains one of the most favoured tourist destinations for Indians. A blend of urban modernity and Asian culture, what does Kuala Lumpur have in store for young kids and their parents?

Hi MIM! Tell us a little about yourself.

I am one of those scatter brained mums, who sometimes forgets which kids are mine when I get off the lift. I recently lost weight and attribute most of the credit to waxing. I don’t have a handphone and pray that I’ll never have to own one.

Hello Sunita! What can you tell us about yourself?

I am a Business Analyst by profession; a mother of 2 kids and a reader who still sneaks in a book at bedtime to read as soon as the kids fall asleep as well as a 10-something-pots garden lover. I have lived in Pune for the past 10+ years – yet it’s a place I am still discovering. Pune used to be a quaint little place with its own pace. Today it is this nice little town which is as cosmopolitan as any other major metro and still regains its ‘Puneri’ charm.

Anuradha

The Women’s Web, ‘Travel The World With Kids’ series is a set of interviews with mothers from all over the globe who are interested in exploring their backyard attractions with their tiny tots! We hope you find them useful, if someday you choose to visit their part of the world. Presented in Q&A format, this one is with Anuradha Shankar from Mumbai, who writes about her travel tales at A Wandering Mind.

Often referred to as the New York of India, Mumbai is well known as the financial centre and entertainment capital of India. But, what kid-friendly activities does it boasts of? Let’s find out!

Hello Anu! Why don’t you tell us a little about yourself?

It’s difficult to talk about myself, for I never know how to describe the bundle of contradictions that I am! I was an enthusiastic science student, all set, and almost on the way to become a scientist, and then I suddenly left one of the premier educational institutions in India to change my field, get married and settle down as a wife and mother. My life now revolves around my 8 year old son, whom I adore watching grow up, yet sitting at home gets on my nerves! Starting a blog was an attempt to share my travel experiences with the world, and a way to satisfy my creative urges. It was originally meant to be strictly a travel blog, yet, somewhere during the past 4 years, it has lived up to its name, wandering here and there, with posts on not just my travels, but also my experiences bringing up my son, events in Mumbai, festivals I celebrate, and so much more! It also opened the door to freelance writing, which has allowed me to harness my creative urges better.
