When my son reads books by Roald Dahl written using his gobble funk language, I recall my mother creating a similar kind of language years back.

The struggle has been intense after the birth of my second child. Years of just feeding, changing and parenting took a toll. I was so into proving to the world that I can do it that I completely lost myself in the effort.

Every time I set up my kitchen, the first cupboard that I allocate is that for snacks. Of course, for it to be selected as the coveted snacks cupboard, it has to meet certain criteria!

As we were growing up, sometimes I would be in the kitchen as my mom would not be well. She used to send my brothers into the kitchen, "Go and help her, and you also cook, no point sitting in the room and watching TV."

But what if this bonding and expectation grow out to be a great emotional dependency that we couldn't overcome in our later stages of life? What if it impacts our kid’s life?
