Want to eat more fruits to top up your nutritional quotient, but short of time? A yummy smoothie is the answer.
We all are aware that eating three fruits a day is very beneficial for maintaining good health. But how many of us remember to eat our fruits everyday? I am sure most of you may agree with me on this and state,“Yes, we want to eat and we have loaded our fridge with fruits. But we forget or don’t have time to eat them everyday.”
I have got an excellent solution to this problem, after I started drinking smoothie for breakfast.
It is a mouth watering meal in a glass, loaded with vitamins, minerals, nutrients and anti-oxidants. It is divinely delicious too. You also feel content about the fact that you have had a healthy breakfast, and your day’s dose of fruit intake is taken care of. All you have to do is to pick from the following ingredients:
From the above ingredients you can make variety of smoothies of your choice. Here is the recipe of my favourite one.
Banana – 1 Apple/pear half Dried strawberry – 2 Cranberry – 2 Almonds – 2 Curd-half a cup (if you do not want to have sour curd in the morning substitute it with milk.) Mint leaves – 2 or 3 strands or basil/spinach Sprouts/roasted Chana dal – 1 tablespoon. Rosemary/cinnamon – a pinch.
Put them in a blender and run it for a minute. Your yummy and nutritious smoothie is ready. You could mix and match the fruits, vegetable and herbs of you choice for variety. You could also dry grind the nuts separately and use it as a topping or grind all of them together.
Smoothies can be a great addition to your kid’s meal too. Easier and quicker to have, and tastier than the usual serving of fruit!
So let me know in the comments: how do you make your smoothie?

UP Boards Topper Prachi Nigam was trolled on social media for her facial hair; our obsession with appearance is harsh on young minds.
Prachi Nigam’s photo has been doing the rounds on social media for the right reasons. Well, scratch that- I wish the above statement were true. This 15-year-old girl should ideally be revelling in her spectacular achievement of scoring a whopping 98.05% and topping her tenth-grade boards. But oddly enough, along with her marks, it’s something else that garners more attention – her facial hair.
While the trolls are driving themselves giddy by mocking this girl who hasn’t even completed her school yet, the ones who are taking her side are going one step ahead – they are sharing her photoshopped pictures, sans the facial hair, looking nothing less than a celebrity with captions saying – “Prachi Nigam, ten years later”.
Doctors have already diagnosed her with PCOD in their comments, based on photographic evidence. While we have names for people shamed for their weight – body shaming, for their skin colour- racism, for their age- age shaming, for being a female- sexism, this category of shaming where one faces criticism for their appearance has no name. With that, it also has zero shame attached to it.
