Objectification, discrimination, ‘man-handling’ in blatant or subtle ways is a part and parcel of a woman’s life. However when one hears of rape, it sends shivers down the spine. Even trying to understand the mind frame of a being who can could violate a 11 month old or a 5 year old is futile.
Below are a few lines to capture the pain…and freedom from it…
Looking up to find the sky There is none…
Flapping hard trying to fly There was no sun…
Straddled in chains for a man’s pleasure Drowned in tears, sympathy in no measure
Darkness looms all around, every whiff of air suffocates An angel smiles a ray of hope, cutting through the shackles of fear
As if magical, the chains loosen and the skies appear
She flies and flies and aims for the sun Doesn’t matter the destination, but for sure there is no return
