New Year is just around the corner. While some of us can’t wait for the party to begin, there are others who dread cooking if the party is at home with a long guest list. Ordering out is an option but again the quality of food, diverse menu, sky high prices owing to peak time, food being not sufficiently hot till the time of serving, customization etc makes the job quite challenging and it is next to impossible to please every one.
That is when you feel like the problem is back to square one and you will end up preparing the food at home itself. Though it sounds exhausting, stress not. There are life saving hacks in a party menu too, especially in starter recipes, we just need to be smart enough to tweak it!
All of us know the buffets that are usually offered at various restaurants mainly consist of numerous starter recipes, which will satiate most of your hunger and you won’t dig deep into either main course or desserts, unless you have a sweet tooth like me!
Apply the same technique at home as well, have more starters in variety and quantity and cut down on main course and desserts. As far as desserts are concerned you can still order them like cup cakes, chocolate mousse, tarts etc a day before too, to make it convenient for you.
Concentrate on starter recipes as they do not take much time to prepare, have more options to explore, you can sneak some of the readymade fast foods to make the recipes simpler; you can handover some tasks to your family members or helpers without worrying much as some starters fall under no cooking-only assembling category.
Another good alternative is to plan a good mix of readymade stuff like namkeen and chips along with a very few elaborate starter recipes where you actually spend time on cooking. I guess these are enough reasons to make a party menu rich in starter recipes. Let’s check out some easy ways out now!
Few ideas for readymade starters would be different kinds of namkeen like mathri, bhakarwadi, khaakhra, bakery cookies, murukku, corn puffs, plantain chips, salted nuts etc. Also for kids you can keep some popcorn with caramel topping, butter & jam sandwiches or chocolate flakes ready. See some more options below for simple, fun party starts recipes.

Neena was the sole caregiver of Amma and though one would think that Amma was dependent on her, Neena felt otherwise.
Neena inhaled the aroma that emanated from the pan and took a deep breath. The aroma of cumin interspersed with butter transported her back to the modest kitchen in her native village. She could picture her father standing in the kitchen wearing his white crisp kurta as he made delectable concoctions for his only daughter.
Neena grew up in a home where both her parents worked together in tandem to keep the house up and running. She had a blissful childhood in her modest two-room house. The house was small but every nook and cranny gave her memories of a lifetime. Neena’s young heart imagined that her life would follow the same cheerful course. But how wrong she was!
When she was sixteen, the catastrophic clutches of destiny snatched away her parents. They passed away in a road accident and Neena was devastated. Relatives thronged her now gloomy house and soon it was decided that she should be married off.
