If you ever traveled back in time, what would you tell your younger self?
I wish I can meet you today….
If I meet you today, I would tell you, “You don’t have to be thinner, taller or fairer to be prettier.”
You are beautiful just the way you are.
If I meet you today, I would tell you, “Things are not bleak as you make yourself to believe”
Remember, if it hurts more than it makes you happy, let it go, for it is not love.
If I meet you today, I would tell you, “Believe in yourself, your abilities and silence those inner demons.”
If you have come this far, you can go even farther than what you think is possible; i’ts only in the mind that there are limits.
If I meet you today, I would tell you, “Let go of the toxic people in your life.”
Let them go, nothing about them is worth stressing over, especially what they bring about, be it bitterness or strife.
If I meet you today, I would tell you, “Don’t bother if everyone jeers at you, pities you and speaks nastily of you.”
Even though the whole world might seem against you, there would always be someone who wholeheartedly loves you.
If I meet you today, I would tell you, “You don’t have to prove anything to anyone.”
For you will soon move on and their opinions, well, like the winds of yesterday, in no time they would be gone.
If I meet you today, I would tell you, “Be selfish, be loving and be kind to yourself.”
No matter who lets you down, you would always have someone to count on and that would be you.
And, if I meet you, my 20-year-old self, today, I would tell you, “Take that first step, don’t doubt yourself, not today nor ever.”
For miracles are just around the corner!

UP Boards Topper Prachi Nigam was trolled on social media for her facial hair; our obsession with appearance is harsh on young minds.
Prachi Nigam’s photo has been doing the rounds on social media for the right reasons. Well, scratch that- I wish the above statement were true. This 15-year-old girl should ideally be revelling in her spectacular achievement of scoring a whopping 98.05% and topping her tenth-grade boards. But oddly enough, along with her marks, it’s something else that garners more attention – her facial hair.
While the trolls are driving themselves giddy by mocking this girl who hasn’t even completed her school yet, the ones who are taking her side are going one step ahead – they are sharing her photoshopped pictures, sans the facial hair, looking nothing less than a celebrity with captions saying – “Prachi Nigam, ten years later”.
Doctors have already diagnosed her with PCOD in their comments, based on photographic evidence. While we have names for people shamed for their weight – body shaming, for their skin colour- racism, for their age- age shaming, for being a female- sexism, this category of shaming where one faces criticism for their appearance has no name. With that, it also has zero shame attached to it.
